
107 golfers qualify for 2024 NCBA golf series grand finale at Muthaiga

With exactly a month to go, 107 golfers have qualified for the much-anticipated 2024 NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale, set for the end of November at Muthaiga Golf Club.
Last weekend, six golfers secured their spots during the final local qualifying leg held at the Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort, with home player Stephen Gichari putting up a spirited fight to emerge as the overall winner.
Gichari and five of his clubmates joined 101 other golfers who qualified from various events held throughout the year since the series teed off in March. This includes six golfers from Uganda and three from Rwanda.
From the Naivasha event, the top male and female finishers in Divisions One and Two, along with the overall winner in Division Three and the overall junior winner, reserved their spots for the main event.
Playing off a handicap of 5, Gichari returned an impressive score of 36 points to claim the top prize, in addition to hitting closest to the pin on hole number 8.
Meanwhile, Sissel Rene also scored 36 points to emerge as the ladies' winner, while George Mukundi and Agnes Githinji claimed the men’s and ladies' Division Two prizes, respectively.
Mukundi, playing off a handicap of 17, carded 36 points, while Githinji managed 29 points, playing off a handicap of 23.
Svein Rene (handicap 29) was the overall winner in Division Three after posting 37 points, while Sacha Abbonizio won the junior category with 35 points.

NCBA Acting Group Director of Corporate Banking, Charles Omondi, stated: "Congratulations to everyone who has qualified for the Grand Finale so far, as we await Tanzania to finalize their qualifications.
This year’s series has been exceptional, growing in participants, the number of events, and the number of regional tournaments. We look forward to the finale.”
One more regional qualifying tournament is set to take place next month in Tanzania, at Kili Golf Club, to determine the final team for the season finale.
